So the inspiration of this project came multiple times when I was taking apart PCs and I would see the warning where you have to make sure all the power is off before touching anything on a PC. As time passed I saw that motherboards had LEDs on them that tell you that power is being supplied to the motherboard, and the LED would turn off only when the PC power supply was not plugged in. So I thought "how can I know if power is going to my motherboard if I don't have an LED on my motherboard?" The idea for the "Case Light" was born. The picture of the prototype in all its glory is below:
In the picture you can see a modified ATX extension cord that reroutes two ATX signal wires into a box containing an LED circuit. The LED is lit when the ATX extension cord is plugged into an ATX power supply and an ATX motherboard.
The next picture shows the "Case Light" plugged in and working in an actual PC.
Notice the PC isn't running. The next picture shows the case light in the PC while its actually running.
